Iceland enjoyed an emphatic 6-2 win away to Northern Ireland to pick up their first points in qualifying Group 5 for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Strong start
Both teams had lost their opening games in the section 2-0 against the Czech Republic, Iceland at home and Northern Ireland away, but the visitors fared better on their travels this time as they jumped to a 4-0 lead by half-time with Bjarni Vidarsson's 15th-minute penalty opening the floodgates. Further goals from Aron Einar Gunnarsson (32), Alfred Finnbogason (42) and Rurik Gislason (44) put the result beyond doubt before the interval at the Showgrounds in Coleraine.

Gislason double
Johann Gudmundsson continued the rout 12 minutes after the break, and though substitute Joshua Magennis briefly stemmed the tide with one for the home side a minute later, Gislason added his second and his side's sixth with just 64 minutes played. Magennis completed the scoring with his second on 76 minutes but it was not enough to save the home side's blushes.
